When we checked, we did not find big chain stores like Zudio or Trends in Jolly Grant, Bhaniyawala or Doiwala. For these, you need to go to Dehradun.

What to buy for the weather
Jolly Grant is at the foot of the hills. The weather can surprise visitors.
- December to February: mornings and nights are cold. Pack or buy a warm jacket, a sweater, socks and a cap. Hospital corridors and waiting areas can feel cold too.
- March to June: warm to hot days. Cotton clothes are best.
- July to September: monsoon rain. A light rain jacket and slippers or sandals that dry fast are useful.

Many families come to Himalayan Hospital for a few days and end up staying longer. If that happens, don’t worry. Here is what people usually need to buy:
- 2 or 3 sets of comfortable clothes for the attendant
- loose, soft clothes for the patient that are easy to change
- a shawl or light blanket for long hours in waiting areas
- warm socks and a cap in winter
- slippers for the ward
